How to generate AI distractors WIP

Learn how to use AI to help generate meaningful distractors when authoring questions

When authoring questions, it can be challenging to think of alternative distractors for all of the questions in the set. This is where AI can assist by generating distractors that can be used as-is or adjusted as required.

AI distractors are generated based on existing information such as:

  • Variant 1 Question Statement
  • Variant 1 Question Prompt
  • Keyed Response

Once these things have been entered, Add with AI is enabled on each distractor, this allows the generation of new distractors.

⚠️If any of the conditions are not met, then the Add with AI option will be disabled

Generate an AI Distractor

  1. Go to the Question Studio.
  2. Edit a question set and go to a specific question.
  3. Ensure the question statement and prompt and the keyed response are completed.
  4. Select an existing empty or add a new distractor, then select Add with AI.
  5. A new distractor will be added.
  6. Review the provided text and adjust as necessary.

✅ If you don't like the generated distractor, simple delete it and try again. AI will generate a different answer each time.
