Why is bold not displaying correctly in the Question Builder?

Learn why bolded text is showing as ** the quick brown fox ** instead of bolded words

The Question Builder text editor has a bold function which must be applied to words without leading or trailing spaces. If you see your bolded text is showing as ** the quick brown fox **** instead of the quick brown fox, then this indicates that leading and or trailing spaces have been marked as bold.

It's an easy fix, just edit your Question Set in the Question Builder and select the leading and or trailing space and remove the bold formatting. Save the changes and then Publish the set to apply the changes to any Series using the set.

⚠️The published changes will be in a new version and so any current enrolments will not see the changes even though they are displayed in the console. Only new enrolments will get the applied updates.


Example

Step 1 - Enter the text in the editor and see the result displayed in the previewer.

Step 2 - Select multiple words to and format as bold (leading and trailing spaces are also selected).

Step 3 - The text editor shows the bold correctly but the previewer is not showing bold correctly.

Step 4 - Identify where the ** characters and look for space characters. Select the leading/ trailing spaces as required and remove the bold formatting.

Once all spaces have been unbolded, the previewer will show the bold formatting correctly.


The clear formatting option can also be used to remove the bold
