How to create audio supported Question Sets

Learn how to generate audio clips that can provide audio support to a Question Set

Often learners have English as a second language and this means listening to spoken English whilst looking at the written English may improve outcomes. Generating audio clips for questions and feedback parts can provide audio support to a Question Set to cater for a wider audience.

Prerequisites

  • Determine the voice that you want to provide
    • If it's a simple male voice then you can use the built-in AI audio generator in the Question Builder
    • If you require different voices or a female voice then use external generated AI audio

Using built-in AI audio generator

  1. Create the audio scripts directly in the Question Builder question parts.
  2. For a simple male neutral voice then you use the built-in AI Audio Generator in the Question Builder*.

Using external generated AI audio

  1. Create the audio scripts from the Question Set and save in document.
  2. Determine which accents you will need for your Question Set and generate the audio files.
    1. If you need male and female western accents such as Australian, British, Irish, American or Canadian then you can generate audio clips with the simple method using Immersive Reader and Chrome Browser.
    2. If you need mainly female Asian, African or Indian accents then generate audio clips with the advanced method using Read Aloud in Edge Browser and separate audio recorder.
    3. Use any other free (ClipChamp) or paid (11labs, Murf etc) text-to-speech generator tool as required. You will need to pay for a license for these services.
  3. Add the audio clips using the upload audio function in relevant question parts.

✅ If you have already generated audio clips in WAV format you will need to convert them to mp3 before using with a Question Set

⚠️ *The built-in AI Audio Generator only supports the creation of audio clips for first statement block and the first prompt block. Other text blocks will be ignored.
