Understanding the Progress to Mastery Percentage

Understanding the progress to mastery percentage is important when determining which attempt round a learner is up to

The progress to mastery insights graph and the individual learner progress show a progress percentage that represents cohort/learner attempts progress respectively. The value shows how much progress has been made through the questions as a percentage of the total number of attempts. Total attempts can be calculated by multiplying the number of questions by the mastery level. The mastery percentage shows how many concurrent correct attempts have been achieved.

The progress through the questions can determine how a learner or cohort is tracking when compared to minimum mastery times

Key Stage of Progress

There are key stages for progress to mastery that, depending on the mastery level, can indicate if the learner's progress is good 😀 or not as good 😔 as it could be.

⚠️ Progress percentage will go up in percentage with each correct attempt (see example chart) and will go down with each incorrect attempt. The percentage drop is much larger for an incorrect attempt because the question concurrent count will reset to 0 and therefore shown by a much larger percentage drop

Example Mastery Progress for 8 Questions with Mastery of 3

This chart shows the breakdown of the progress percentage based on an 8-question set with a mastery level of 3.

⚠️ The chart above is showing a linear step through each question with all correct attempts e.g., 1,2,3,4 etc however in reality, only a linear step can happen on the 1st round of correct attempts for Question Sets with a fixed delivery order.
