Why do I get an error when changing a user's email address

There can be a number of reasons why an error appears when an account edit is being processed.

Error Reason	Remediation
Another active account is using the same email address	Search Active Users using the email address to find the other account If this is a duplicate account then choose to deactivate one of the accounts or use a different email address
A deactivated account is using the same email address	Search Deactivated Users using the email address to find the other account Edit the email address for the deactivated account to make it unique e.g. add .old to the end of the email address for example john.citizen@acme.com can be changed to john.citizen@acme.com.old or john.citizen@acme.com.x

Email address errors can happen when another account is already using the same email address
