About Linear Learning Pathways
Learn about how Linear Learning Pathways can provide the ability to enrol learners in an automated linear sequence of series.
A Linear Learning Pathway has a simple structure of series-1, series-2, series-3 etc and is shown with the following example:

✅ Learn the best way to use a linear learning pathway
Linear Learning Pathway Configuration Rules
The following rules apply to a Linear Learning Pathway configuration:
- The pathway must have a unique name within the organisation
- All Series in a linear pathway must use the duration setting of Mastery. Any series with a Fixed Duration or Set End Date cannot be part of the pathway (see Note 1)
- Each Series can be set to either Standard Mode or Burst Mode within the pathway (original configuration)
- Any enrolments that require Preview mode or Competency Mode will not work
- The same series can't be in the pathway multiple times
- Pathway enrolments can be overridden was all burst mode if required at the time the enrolment is created
- The number of simultaneous active series enrolments within a pathway can be set from 1-N where N is the number of series in the pathway divided by 2
✅ Note 1 - If a series does not have the correct settings to be part of a pathway then you can create a new series with the correct parameters or contact support to have your existing series changed where possible
Linear Learning Pathway Operating Rules
The following rules apply to the Linear Learning Pathway operation:
- New learners will receive a pathway enrolment email with a generate password
- Existing Learners will receive a pathway enrolment email without a password
- Enrolments in the next series will be available to the learner immediately after the series is mastered
- Learners will receive Series Mastery Certificate/Transcript when they master each Series
- Learners will only receive the Learning Pathway Certificate of Completion once all series have been mastered
How does the Linear Learning Pathway Enrolment work?
The following example enrolment flow is based on a Linear Learning Pathway with 6 series and concurrency of 1.

A learner is enrolled once into the Linear Learning Pathway and then....
- The system will send a pathway enrolment summary email to the admin user with details of users enrolled in the pathway.
- The system will also send a pathway enrolment email to each learner and automatically enrol the them in the first Series (e.g., Series-1).
- When the learner Masters the active Series (e.g., Series-1) they will receive a Series Mastery Email, and are then automatically enrolled in next Series from the Pathway (e.g., Series-2). The enrolment will start on the same day.
- When the learner Masters another active Series (e.g., Series-2) they will receive a Series Mastery Email, and are then automatically enrolled in next Series from the Pathway (e.g., Series-3). The enrolment will start on the same day.
- This sequence will continue until there are no more Series in the pathway.
- When the learner Masters the final Series in the Pathway (e.g., Series-6) they will receive a Series Mastery Email and the Learning Pathway is now complete. The Certificate of Learning Pathway Completion is emailed to the Learner.
